Husband loves these shirts Cool enough to wear as sun protection while working, warm enough to be great base layer when cold
Christine –
As always, exactly base layer needed to be the most comfy during winter mountain sports!

Best base layer for the weight I’ve been able to find
Jan –
Husband wears it daily! Lightweight but warm and looks great with jeans. Used as a top layer over tee. Second purchase as he loved the first one!
Jan –
My husband loves this and wears it daily as a top layer over a tee. Soft and warm. Not too heavy or hot for southern winter. Looks great with jeans.
Domenic –
Use them for biking, hiking, skiing. Any the big outdoors when it gets cold

This base layer is great for being out in the field clearing trees from the trail especially during cold and wet days. These are comfortable and provide me just right amount of warmth without restricting movement.

I’ve been wearing the All Season shirts for years. I’m 5’10”, 170 lbs, 41″ chest, 32″ waist and the medium fits like it was tailored for me. I wore one for over 1k miles of the PCT and it held up extremely well for a merino shirt. You have to expect thinning with Merino as a natural fiber so adjust expectations, but the benefits far outweigh the shorter life span of a synthetic shirt. They hold their shape under a pack day after day, the nylon core really extends the lifespan and provides the durability without sacrificing the incredible feel and anti-stink that merino provides. It dries quick enough thanks to no spandex content. The only downside worth commenting on is the stitching seams along the shirt will fray pretty bad over time as they rub on the backpack etc. It doesn’t effect functionality and I just carefully trim or remove with a fabric shaving device at a setting that doesn’t get to close to the fabric, works well. I’ve been wearing merino for many years from Icebreaker, Ibex, etc and Smartwool has nailed it. If anything, i would suggest experimenting with higher nylon content for added durability, maybe in targeted high-wear areas. I love Smartwool boxer briefs but the crotch wears through eventually while the rest of the boxer had plenty of life. They should be made with 100% nylon breathable mesh and slightly higher nylon content throughout and they would have a gold standard boxer by which all others are measured! Please make them Smartwool

Great lighter weight base layer. Wear it under a warmer layer for riding and will be great for camping or need something light weight with sleeves in the summer.
Michael –
I love both the All Season and Classic version of Smartwool’s Merino Base Layer tops. I were this alone on warmer days or under a sweater or colder day. Soft. Be careful too avoiding shrinking these tops. After making the mistake of putting it into a dry, I learned to hang dry. It is dry in no time at all.
Devin –
All day, all seasons!
Thom –
I was very pleased with how well they fit. I’m now thinking about buying more when I get enough to pay for them. Thank you so much!
William –

Herkus –
Great baselayer, not itchy at all after a wash. Wish it had thumbholes, but it’s also nice that it doesn’t get in the way of my watch
Max –
Works great for skiing and I like it better than polyester. Great to get this on sale.
