Looking for a commuting backpack. Felt durable and well-made, but the size was smaller than expected (bag becomes shallower at the top) and straps felt uncomfortable on the shoulders. There is a metal frame that holds the main compartment open.

Love it. Perfect for all my necessities

I am in love with this bag! I searched for a bag like this for so long and nothing was quite what I wanted, but this bag is PERFECT! I am very petite, so all the practical bags I found were too large and made me look like a child wearing a school bag. This is compact and cute enough to be a purse, but it fits everything I regularly carry: wallet, kindle, water bottle, coffee thermos, and makeup bag, with room to spare.
The zippers glide smoothly and the way it opens is genius! It stays open on its own and allows you to see easily into the bag. I love that the bag stands up on its own. It also has useful compartments: it has a convenient outside RFID protected outside pocket with key chain, and in the main compartment it has a padded pocket, which easily fits my 13′ macbook pro (with a case on), another bottle pocket, and two 4″ wide x 5″ deep pockets.
It’s very easy to unclip and change the straps from backpack to shoulder, and the straps are very easily adjustable but seem to stay in place without loosening. One reviewer said the straps aren’t very comfortable, but I think the strap material is actually quite nice and smooth and I like the cool grey stripe down the middle. The straps are not padded and bulky like a regular backpack, which means it may dig if you carry many heavy items, but that’s why it works so well as a purse. The top handles are useful too. To top it all off, it’s made of recycled materials. Every woman should buy this purse!

I wanted to get a convertible purse/backpack for a trip to Europe. I ordered the Dispatch, the Sherpani Camden and the Ventura bag and ended up going with the Dispatch – which was a surprise – I had thought I would opt for the Camden or the leather bag, which is why it is good to compare items in person. The Camden is a very large bag and looks like it would be a stylish bag for work purposes where you are hauling a laptop along with your other stuff. But is is very deep and a bit bulky – it would look odd to take it as a purse when going out at night. The Ventura didn’t have very good internal structure and folded over on itself. The Dispatch was the happy medium. you can carry it by the handles, remove the straps entirely, convent the back pack straps to cross body so it will function across a lot of situations. It zips completely shut but here is a metal frame at the top which holds the bag open to make finding things easy and it has a sleeve for a tablet. There is one security pocket on the front that fully zips, and two side pockets for water bottles (12 ounce size) or small umbrella. It seems really well made. I ended up looking at three different colors (the black, the flint/black and the surf (blue)). I ended up going with the flint/black (which is now out of stock) as it felt a little more stylish than the all black, but still practical in terms of not showing dirt. The surf color was a bit of a strange blue – and would like show wear and tear more. I think this bag is stylish and versatilel enough that I can carry only one bag on the trip.

I did an earlier review based on my first impressions of the bag before I took it to Europe. Now that I’m back, I can say that the bag works great! The convertible straps are especially helpful in museums which often don’t allow backpacks – you just have to remember to switch over the straps to a cross-body bag before you enter the museum and the staff directs you to check your “back pack.” I used several small zippered bags inside this bag to organize my things, as the bag is deep and it could be tricky to retrieve small items that had worked their way to the bottom of the bag. It holds a small water bottle easily in the outside pockets. The only issue I have with the bag is that due to the way the bag opening is structured, it can be a little difficult to zip the bag shut – you need one hand to pull the zip and one hand to hold the opening closed as you zip. It’s easy if you put the bag on a table or counter, but can be a little trickier “on the fly” as you’re walking. But that is a minor quibble – I really loved the looks and function of this bag – it is really well designed.

I compared this bag to several, in particular the Camden by Sherpani . The Camden is much larger and while has a ton of great features, particularly more pockets and a luggage sleeve which was a big plus, it’s also way too big size wizse for my 5 ft 112 lb frame. The Dispatch is a great smallest conversion bag. I love the sleekness and the frame that holds open the mouth of the bag. Some have said it’s tough to zip in a pinch, but I like that it stands open and isn’t floppy. Floppy or stiff is probably my biggest complaint in most bags. The Dispach has structure but not too much. I would love to see another pocket or two, particularly a luggage sleeve. Also. When I originally ordered the Dispatch only the black and the blue / black were available. I originally returned it because I really hate black, but now there seem to be two other colors so I snapped up a Flint and Raven . Looking forward to using this bag on an upcoming trip!
Ps . I also compared this to the Soleil, but decided on the smallest of the three due to my stature.

I absolutely love this bag. My previous everyday bag was Sherpani’s Camden. That’s also a great bag; it holds more than the Dispatch and you can wear it as a crossbody, but there’s a couple things I find annoying: you can’t remove the backpack or crossbody straps so it’s always just a mess of straps, and the zipper doesn’t cover the entire top of the bag (so there’s gaps). You can’t use the Dispatch as a crossbody, but the backpack straps are removable and you can fully close the top. Although it doesn’t hold as much as the Camden it still holds quite a bit. I’ll go back to the Camden for traveling, but from now on, this is my everyday bag.

Exactly what I was searching for. I needed a simply styled, neutral bag that could be carried multiple ways and would hold my 11” iPad Pro with case as well as a water bottle and a fleece or raincoat. It couldn’t look too bulky for day to day, but had to be roomy enough for anything I’d want to bring with me on a flight. Lastly, it needed to have some level of rain protection for my electronics. I thought all that would be impossible to find but this bag does all that and even adds a wide mouth opening and an internal key fob. Perfect!

was looking for a fashionable “back pack” to use of work and travel. It’s everything I’d hoped to find. It’s cute, comfortable to use as a back pack and has handles that give it more of a purse look, as well as being well made . I bought the one with the mustard yellow band. I’ve had a lot of compliments on it and anticipate it will be useful for a very long time.

I am looking for a day pack to carry for travel in Europe. It needs to be comfortable enough to be carried all day as we sightsee and stylish enough to go from a soccer game to a cathedral to a restaurant. I ordered the Baggallini Soho Backpack along with the Knomo London Beuchamp backpack and the Sherpani Dispatch bag.
I really liked the crisp look of the black and white Sherpani bag the most. But it was a bit smaller than the other two and my MacBook Air just barely fit in it. I carried it around the house a bit and was worried the unpadded shoulder straps would be really uncomfortable if the bag were worn like a backpack for a longer amount of time. The Baggallini Soho Backpack was the largest of the three. I liked its pockets, the way the opening had a frame that kept the mouth of the bag open or closed, and the travel sleeve that would slip over the handle of a suitcase. I was torn between it and the Knomo bag. Ultimately the Knomo won out because of it’s gold-tone hardware and sleeker shape that are a bit more stylish.

This is a perfect bag for work, travel and everyday use. In the short time I’ve had it, I’ve gotten about 6 compliments on it. I love the size, the material, the versatility and the style. The water bottle size pockets are also a plus. I’m am very happy with my purchase. A+

Used this as my purse for my trip to Scandinavia and while I was a little nervous that it wouldn’t be big enough, I am happy to report it IS big enough. And it’s hip and stylish enough that I didn’t look or feel like a pack mule. It held: packable rain jacket, umbrella, large wallet, Epi Pen & other meds, tissues, hand sanitizer, 2 water bottles, camera, cell phone…ok, you get the picture. It has a lot of pockets inside and out to keep things organized. It rained a few times and it seemed to be waterproof. The only downside is that it was hard to zip back up one handed which was kind of a pain but the stylishness of the bag made up for it.

I so wanted to love this bag, but honestly I really don’t. I love the material, shape, style – but unfortunately it is not to be. The zipper of the main compartment is VERY difficult to operate. Whether the bag is on one shoulder (semi-backpack) or across the body the zipper will not move unless you use both hands – one to hold out the length of the zipper and the other to pull the tab open/closed. This makes getting anything out of the bag while walking or on the subway/bus virtually impossible unless you stop and use two hands.

I wanted a practical bag for everyday use. I had purchased the “Sadie”, but it was too narrow for my wallet and sunglasses. However I kept it as I really liked it and I use it for weekends. I liked the fact that the Dispatch can be converted to a cross-body, as I don’t like wearing back-packs. The reason I gave it four stars for comfort is that the strap is too small for a cross-body bag. I fixed this by buying another longer strap with a protective cushion for comfort. This alleviated the problem. I will admit, the zipper is hard to close. I feel that it will break – by so far, so good. I’ve had the bag for a couple of months now. I like the style and the outside pocket is handy for my keys. The bag is lightweight, also.

I love the way it feels while wearing it as a backpack. I’ve had it for 1 year but it’s been my every day bag. The only complaint I have is that because of the metal bar that makes it a square opening, it’s very difficult to close while wearing it. The zipper also broken once but I had that fixed easily since I live in China. Overall I think it’s a great bag and considering what I put it through it’s lasted quite well. It’s also the perfect size and has lots of pockets for travel and such.

This is a beautiful bag that is a perfect size, however, the opening has already broken in just a week of usage. The “doctor’s bag” opening would be great if it actually were secured with a hinge instead of 2 isolated, bent metal poles with cheap rubber “feet” on each end. I wish I could return it. Also, allowing it to be open at all is not an option unless you want to lose all of your contents with any sudden movement, and zippering it open or closed, is not easy, even with two hands solely dedicated to that one action. The zipper feels flimsy, in addition to all of this. So, the bag’s size and mustard yellow color are all it has going for it. So sorry I made this purchase. 🙁 🙁

Sherpani, where have you been all my life? I’m done with designer bags and am totally into function with style. This bag has it all! I schlep around so much stuff, computer, iPad, books, etc., carrying all of that on one shoulder is taking a toll and this bag holds it all. It is nice enough for work, but fun enough that I don’t need to switch it for weekend activities. It has it all and I love it!

I am completely satisfied with my Sherpani Dispatch. I thought I would be using it just for bicycling around town but find that it is convenient for toting supplies to art class and business meetings. The backpack easily converts to a shoulder bag or tote and looks more stylish than the usual backpack. So much can fit into it without having an overstuffed look, even with water bottles in the outside pockets and a sweater inside.

Bought this for a trip and it didn’t disappoint. Water bottles fit perfectly in the side pockets (with another one on the inside). There was plenty of room for meds, chargers, cords, snacks, iPad and a myriad of other travel essentials. RFID material inside the main compartment as well as the front pocket for data protection was a nice bonus. Lightweight material with heavy duty construction.
Strap options make it easy to carry in any circumstance.
I wish there was a back pocket for the extra strap when not in use and the front pocket could be a tad larger, but this bag looks good and meets all of my needs.

Nice sleek bag for corralling my tablet, phones(s), glasses, water bottle and whatever else I’m lugging around the house. Love the tote handles and shoulder strap. The bag stands on its own when loaded, although it does sag to one side if there’s nothing in the tablet sleeve (but it hasn’t fallen or collapsed on itself). I usually leave it open and it’s easy to access the contents, but closing it would be a two-handed operation which could be a deal breaker if you’re out in the field and trying to keep your hands free. I compared this to the Dispatch and got it because I really don’t need a backpack option, and the straps on the Dispatch weren’t removable.

Love this bag!! I have been using it on hikes with my dog. It holds everything I need when I leave the house. I also love that it transitions so well from hiking to grocery shopping. It is light and fits my shoulders well. The main pocket is larger than you would think yet it’s not at all a huge backpack. Perfect for me, mom of 4 who runs from here to there with little time to transition. My oldest daughter already has eyes on it. Sherpani nailed it with style, comfort and how it’s made. One of my fav. parts of Sherpani is how their products are made. Highly recommend!

Really like this bag. It’s more vertical than other tote bags, which I like, and holds a lot. Very light and perfect to carry and iPad along with other essentials.

These bags from Sherpani are absolutely gorgeous!! Great attention to detail and the quality is outstanding. I ordered multiple bags to determine the best choice for an upcoming trip to Europe and decided to keep the Cali AT and the Prima.
Do not hesitate to check out this supplier, you will not be disappointed!

Loved this bag. Made my decision by reading the reviews of the ones who purchase before me. They were not wrong! I used as my backpack/purse on a trip to California. I am 5‘3“ and I watch for backpacks that are spacious but not wide and bulky. I love the reinforced opening at the top made it so much easier to get in and get what you needed; also provided another layer of security.

Sherpani bags are great. Durable and spacious.
