I bought this to replace a 20ish year old Beta LT jacket…could not be happier. Bit lighter than the ARs I have had in the past and is perfect for what I needed it for…around town and hiking rain protection. Plus, it has that Arc’Teryx look which fits great. 5′ 10″, 190lbs, athletic build, Large fits perfect with some layering room to spare.
Lucky –
love it. would not buy any other jacket. I will recommend it to whoever will listen
Mike –
This is a solid jacket. Feels well constructed and I am hoping that it will last a long time. It is a great everyday jacket in our rainy climate.
Daniel –
Great updates from my original Beta AR I purchased 8 years ago! Really like the extra length on the jacket.
Chris –
I am really satisfied with my recent purchase. Great quality jacket.
Denis –
The Beta AR jacket is great for all around activities and for leisure! The fit is very comfortable and with a mid layer its good for winter condition so usefull for 3 seasons! I love the colour Navy (black sapphire. Its light but windproof and waterproof. I bought a Nuclei jacket also to wear as a mid layer and its very warm despite being very light and comfortable. Lots of pockets and opening that are well positioned! The quality of the material is outstanding and its a very stylish design.

The best. Love it. Very breathable while perfectly waterproof

Got this for my husband for Christmas. He is 6’4″ and 220lbs and the XL is perfect. The good is perfect and provides great protection. He’s already worn it with layers during wet and snowy conditions and he is very happy!
Marko –
Great Jacket, fits perfect, the color is also very nice

I have multiple Beta AR jackets so that I can have one that is covered in soot and sap for camping and tripping, and another that I can wear in the city, casually and formally. the AR for me is truly a 4 season jacket, I wear it with vents open all summer, and as a wind and snow blocker with an insulated hoody underneath all winter. In my opinion its the perfect shell jacket, quality enough to take whatever you put it through, and nice enough to wear to a wedding if it’s threatening to rain. It’s easy to wash and maintain, I wear a beta AR many days a year

My third Beta AR. The piece you want in your pack for rain and/or high winds.
At 6 feet, 155 pounds, 40 inch chest, a medium fits fine though a little tight under arms with an atom AR puffy.
An heavier layer would not be comfortable and a size large Beta AR would be way too big.
Arteryx service is fantastic.
Reviewer 3 –
Rock solid shell. Have been wearing it daily. Plus I recently skied in it. It repelled all the elements: rain, sleet and wind. Hood fit perfectly over my helmet and the pit zips dumped a load of heat when I I was overheating. I’m athletic 5’9, 180lbs and the large fits perfectly. Just loose enough to easily layer without being a tent when I eventually wear just a t-shirt under come summer.

Firstly, I want to express my gratitude to all those who took the time to leave reviews on this item, assisting me in selecting my first jacket. I primarily utilize this jacket for work purposes, opting for the black variant. It accommodates my daily walks of 8-15 miles, with its pocket placement allowing me to relax my arms and conserve energy. Standing at 6 feet tall, my weight fluctuates between 157-198 pounds depending on the season. Hence, I chose the large size for its versatility over the medium, affording me the option of a longer fit. Moreover, I can adjust its length by zipping it accordingly. Overall, this jacket serves as an excellent shell, shielding me from rain, and its layering capability further influenced my decision to purchase it. I trust this review aids someone in their decision-making process!

About a month of use and several overnight winter hikes pulling a pulk and I love the Beta AR. It’s tough 80d fabric where it matters is showing no wear signs with about 100km of wearing a harness and towing a loaded pulk. Very glad I chose the drop hood as often just the collar over my lower face does the job.
A two-way zipper would have made the AR perfect for my needs.

One of the jacket’s most lauded features is its adaptability to varying temperatures. In warmer weather, it serves as an impenetrable raincoat, keeping you dry during downpours without causing overheating. When the mercury drops, pairing it with a fleece transforms the Beta AR into a cozy bastion against the cold. This adaptability makes it a smart choice for those looking to minimize their gear without sacrificing comfort or protection.
However, excellence comes at a price. The Beta AR is an investment, but for those who require a jacket that will perform in a wide range of conditions and last for years, it’s an investment worth making.
In conclusion, the Arc’teryx Beta AR Shell Jacket is a marvel of outdoor gear, offering unparalleled versatility, protection, and durability. Whether faced with rain, wind, or cold, this jacket adapts seamlessly, ensuring that your adventure continues, regardless of the weather. For anyone in search of a single jacket that can handle the unpredictability of the great outdoors, the Beta AR is a clear choice.

Perfect Jacket – multi-purpose, High Quality, possibly the last jacket I will purchase!

I’ve had a few versions of this jacket over the years and I will confidently stand in a torrent of a storm. They’re robust, well-fitting, and secure. And then there’s the design features that make it perfect. I also use this jacket professionally with Search and Rescue. It has never let me down in any application.
Doug –
Recently bought this jacket and used it for the first time on a trip to Park City, Utah. I wanted a versatile shell that I could use for skiing, snowmobiling, and anything else I needed it for. This jacket worked great. Took plenty of falls on the slopes and had zero issue. The fabric is a good thickness and very durable. I would recommend this as a good all around shell. I’m 275 lb and bought an XXL. Wasn’t oversized but gave a good amount of room for layering underneath.
Peter –
I have had this jacket for almost 10 years and am looking at replacing it with a new one. It is a great 3 season jacket and layers very nicely for winter.
I love the collar. This is the only jacket of this quality I have seen with this type of collar.
The only downside is are the pockets. They are not plentiful to start off with and the inside pocket is too small to fit my iPhone Pro Max.
Even with this I will buy another.

I’m very impressed with the cut and fit of this jacket. The manufacturer thought creatively regarding the range of movement required for various outdoor sports. The underarm gussets and extra sleeve length work well for overhead reaching while wearing a pack or harness. Of course the Goretex Pro provides excellent protection from the elements while remaining very breathable. Combined with the underarm vents, comfort on the move is easy to achieve. I’m certainly glad that I chose the BETA AR with the independent stand collar and fully adjustable hood. Whether wearing a helmet or not, you can always adjust the hood for the perfect fit.
Thanks Arc’teryx

I purchased the jacket a month ago and it’s AWESOME!
Sebimall –
Perfect for spring days and in general warmer days on the mountain. Ultra light & packable and it protects me from Wind, Snow, Rain and is super resistant for any mission on and off the Mountain. Really like the fit of the Jacket.
BJ612 –
Had it for a month, and I absolutely love it. The fit is great, works amazing alone or worn over my Atom.
CSharpe –
Bought this jacket a few weeks ago and it fits so well along with keeping the wind and rain out. The more you wear it the better it seems to fit to your body. Only issue I have is the arms seem to be a touch too long, even for someone with slightly longer arms than most!
Recommend this jacket for most things but perfect for hiking.
Justcoops89 –
Build quality and attention to detail on this jacket are wonderful. Waterproof zipper seals, vents, inner and outer pockets, vents, and hood design are some of the features I really appreciate. Love the new 2-toned colours this year for this jacket. This one is going to get a lot of use this year in the mountains!
